Chidimma Adetshina, the former Miss South African contestant embroiled in a nationality controversy, has joined the Miss Universe Nigeria competition as the representative of Taraba State. The organizers of the pageant introduced her as contestant number 25, Miss Taraba, on their official website.

Born in Soweto, South Africa, in 2001, Chidimma’s participation in Miss South Africa sparked debate due to questions surrounding her nationality. Her father is of Igbo descent, while her mother is a naturalized South African citizen of Mozambican origin.

Following an investigation by the South African Ministry of Home Affairs, Chidimma withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest and accepted an invitation to participate in the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant. Her move to compete in the Nigerian pageant has generated interest, given her previous controversy.

The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant will feature Chidimma Adetshina as Miss Taraba, contestant number 25, vying for the coveted title alongside other talented contestants.
