Chelsea fans are having it rough this season. Never in their wildest imaginations could they have anticipated their current situation in the Barclays Premier League, where they are 12th on the log despite being the current league holders.
It got so bad that the club in December 2015 parted ways with one of the most successful managers in its history, Jose Mourinho and replaced him with Dutchman Guus Hiddink, who is also on his second stint with the club.
Despite having not lost a game since taking over, Hiddink’s temporary role will not be made permanent at the beginning of next season, reports say.
According to Goal quoting an OK Diario report, the Dutchman will be replaced by current boss of Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone, who has reportedly told the Spanish outfit that he will not be continuing with them at the end of the season.
The report also claims that Simeone told the club he would be taking over at Chelsea at the beginning of the 2016-2017 league season.
The Argentine is said to be Blues owner, Roman Abramovich’s initial choice to replace Mourinho.
If a deal is agreed, Simeone will have his earnings doubled to 12 million euros a year.
Believed to be one of the best managers in the world because of his feisty approach to the game, Simeone won a La Liga title with the capital outfit and took them to the finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2014.
