Chelsea could move for AC Milan’s controversial Italian forward Mario Balotelli when the transfer window reopens in January, reports the Metro.
Mourinho managed the 23-year-old striker during his time at Inter Milan, and despite a fractious relationship, is prepared to give the talented Italian another chance in the Premier League.
Since leaving Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester City in January, Balotelli has been outstanding for Milan, scoring 15 goals in 17 Serie A matches.
His superstar agent Mino Raiola has fuelled talk of a move though, confirming that his client will eventually be leaving Italy for pastures new.
“There is an exaggerated amount of attention on him in Italy,” said Balotelli’s agent.
“We all need to calm down and analyse how things are going with Milan
“Italy will not be the final stage of his career, for sure,” he added.
Balotelli still has four years left on his contract with the Italian giants, and could cost a whopping £30m.
Chelsea currently have a trio of forwards at Stamford Bridge, with Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba to choose from. Together though, they have only contributed two league goals, but do have the in form Belgian Romelu Lukaku to return from a loan spell at Everton at the end of the season.
