It looks as though Atletico Madrid powerhouse Diego Costa is set to join Chelsea this summer, as Sky Bet have suspended betting on the potential transfer.
Sky Sports have reported that Sky Bet’s Head of Football Trading Paul Wiggins, said: “We’ve seen an unusually high amount of bets on Costa joining Chelsea, especially given we’re some way off the transfer window re-opening.
“We made Chelsea 5/2 favourites when we opened the market and they have been heavily backed over the weekend at odds as short as 4/7, forcing us to suspend the market.”
This season, Costa has bagged 32 goals in all competitions so far, giving his side a realistic chance of La Liga and/or Champions League glory.
The Blues badly need a striker, with Samuel Eto’o’s contract expiring, Fernando Torres ageing and struggling to find the back of the next consistently, and doubts over the long-term suitability of Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba.
It now looks as though Costa will join the Blues for a mammoth transfer fee this summer.
