After losing to Arsenal last weekend, and with a lot of criticism afterward, Chelsea have now responded with a clinical display against Tottenham. They were defeated 1-0 in the first leg at Wembley and needed at least two goals to stand a chance of making it to the final.
N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard scored a goal each to give the Blues a much-needed lead but Spurs were able to peg one back, keeping the match at 2-2 on aggregate. Chelsea subsequently wasted some chances as the match ended in a penalty shootout.
While Chelsea players- Willian, Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Jorginho were able to covert their spot kicks, Tottenham lost two of theirs through Lucas Moura and Eric Dier.
The defeat means Tottenham will continue to search for their first major trophy in many years.
