Queen’s Park Rangers have granted permission to striker Loic Remy to hold talks with Chelsea, according to Sky sports.
The French international has been searching for a new club for a better part of the summer and was close to inking a deal with Liverpool in July, only for the deal to collapse after he flew for a medical in the USA.
It is understood that the player wants Champion’s League football, this has prompted him to reject a chance to re-join Newcastle United on a permanent basis after spending last season at St. James’ Park on loan.
He has played in both games for QPR this season and boss Harry Redknapp is keen to hold on to him.
According to reports, Chelsea have already met the striker’s buy-out clause and have been given automatic permission to speak with the player. Should the deal go through, Remy will replace striker Fernando Torres, who is expected to have his medical with AC Milan on Saturday after agreeing terms on a two-year deal.
QPR are set to sign former Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra, who will also undergo a medical in West London on Saturday.
