Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, has revealed why he included two local players, Kayode Bankole and Papa Daniel, in his final 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Chelle stated that his decision to call up the duo was because they have the potential to add value to the team in the future. “My job is to analyze all Nigerian players and see how they can contribute to the team,” he said.

The Malian coach, who took over the team in January, watched some games in the domestic league before inviting Bankole and Daniel to join the team. “I think they are good and very good for the future,” Chelle said.

Chelle emphasized the importance of preparing for the future, citing the upcoming CHAN and AFCON tournaments. “We need to work together and prepare the future for now,” he said.
