2 Min Read

The European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), has urged Nigerians to go out and vote peacefully for the candidates of their choice on Feb. 16.

The Project Advisor, Gender and Inclusion of the centre, Cathy Latiwa, gave the advice while chatting with newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

Latiwa explained that the centre was European project for electoral support, preventing electoral violence, and focusing on electoral education for inclusion in Nigeria.

“It is a project founded by Germany, but funded by EU and Germany in promoting inclusive democracy.

“One of the things we have to implement toward the 2019 election is to encourage Nigerians to come out and vote peacefully for the candidates of their choice,’’ he said.

Latiwa who encouraged women to be more active in politics, urged them not to rest in their oars in ensuring they also contest for elective positions.

“Those who fail in their bids to contest, or that could not contest this time, should not give up as there are more years ahead.

“There is a long way to go, and we have just begun, so, we need to keep on trying, improving, educating and sensitising the populace to get ready for the next election.’’ (NAN)
