A motorcyclist carrying two male students were reported to have died along the Oru-Ago Iwoye Road in a collision with truck transporting granite.
The motorcyclist was conveying the pupils to school on his bike at about 7.30am when the truck crushed the victims.
Another female pupil, riding with the boys on the same motorcycle, survived but sustained injuries in the accident.
Clement Oladele the Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, stated the accident occurred on the bridge at Oru.
He said the driver of the truck was speeding and driving dangerously and crushed the cyclist and the children in the process.
Babatunde Akinbiyi the Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, also verified the incident.
He said, “A male adult and two male schoolchildren were crushed to death by a truck while another female pupil was injured this morning along the Oru-Ago Iwoye Road.
“The cyclist was taking the children to school when the truck rammed into them.
“The injured female child was taken to Blessed Hospital, Oru, Ijebu, while the corpses of the victims were taken to the mortuary of the State Hospital, Ijebu-Igbo.”
Oladele revealed that a mob, made up youths and students of higher institutions living in the area, who had gathered at the scene of the incident, set the truck ablaze. He added that another truck along the same route was also ignited.
