The Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE), Mr Benjamin Dikki, yesterday announced that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has suspended the disbursement of N213 billion power intervention fund to GENCOs and DISCOs.
The funds will be disbursed when the issues surrounding policy implementation and tariff pricing is settled.
He urged the Federal Government to make sure the issues surrounding tariff adjustment and policy inconsistency is resolved, so as to spur investments in the power sector.
He also stated that the CBN will disburse the funds when the government can guarantee a cost reflective tariff that will grant operators the ability to pay back.
