The Enugu Diocese of the Catholic Church has transferred controversial priest Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka from his parish, Christ the King Parish, GRA-Enugu.
Reports say, Fr Mbaba, who is currently without a parish, was given residence at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Emene, Enugu, which is two kilometres from his Adoration Ministry but not as a parish priest.
The decision to transfer the popular priest may not be unconnected with his controversial stance on some issues in the country, reports say.
However, the Enugu Diocese has denied that anyone was targeted by the transfer, stating that it was a routine exercise that takes place every six years.
According to the Director of Social Communication of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Joseph Offor, there would be general posting and re-posting of priests this year.
“The bishop decides who should be posted where; it has nothing to do with a particular individual. It is a routine practice which is done every six years,” Offor told Breaking Times.
Aside his duty as Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish, GRA-Enugu, Rev. Fr. Mbaka founded and is the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries, Umuchigbo Nike, Enugu.
