Pope Francis has come out to say that the Catholic Church owes the gays an apology.
The Pope stated that the Catholic Church has no right to judge the homosexuals and that they had been treated wrongly by the church for too long.
The Pope also stated that apologies were due to other people that the church has marginalised namely women and children forced into labour.
While people in the gay community hailed the Pope’s words, other conservatives are unhappy with this as they feel it’s an ambiguous stance on a very sensitive topic.
The Pope said on the matter,
“I will repeat what the catechism of the Church says, that they [homosexuals] should not be discriminated against, that they should be respected, accompanied pastorally.
“I think that the Church not only should apologise… to a gay person whom it offended but it must also apologise to the poor as well, to the women who have been exploited, to children who have been exploited by [being forced to] work. It must apologise for having blessed so many weapons.”
