A carpenter identified simply as Orunor has gone into hiding after allegedly beating his apprentice to death in Sapele area of Delta State.
The incident occurred in Orunor’s workshop located along New Ogorode Road, Sapele.
It was learnt that the carpenter accused his apprentice, identified simply as Onome, of lateness to work.
He further accused him of stealing his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card.
It was learnt that the master decided to discipline his apprentice by beating him.
On getting home in the evening, Onome was said to have complained of having body pains to his parents.
He also reportedly told his parents about what transpired between his master and him.
The worried parents were said to have resolved to rush their son to the hospital, but he died before he could be attended to at the medical facility.
Orunor reportedly went into hiding after he learnt about his apprentice’s death.
However, men of the Sapele Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, it was learnt.
