Cameroonian Pastor Dies of COVID-19 After Holding Special Prayers to Cure Virus

3 Min Read

A popular Cameroonian pastor and a former Presidential aspirant has died of COVID-19 after holding special Coronavirus prayers with hundreds of people.

Pastor Franklie Ndifor died of COVID-19 after holding prayers with hundreds of his followers hoping to get a cure/immunity from the virus via prayers.

After he reportedly died in his residence, some of his followers refused to allow police access to the building as they held prayers for his resurrection.

Hundreds more of his followers gathered at his residence in Douala on Sunday morning singing that the popular prophet was not dead. They said he went on a spiritual retreat with God and he would return shortly.

Head of the Medical team leading Cameroon’s response to COVID-19, Dr. Gaelle Nnanga confirmed the incident saying the pastor died less than a week after contracting the virus and was buried in front of his house by the medical response team.

Narrating the incident, the doctor said he was called along with his medical team by church members who found their pastor in agony in his residence.

He said upon arrival, that he discovered that pastor Ndifor had severe respiratory difficulties and died ten minutes after treatment was administered.

Upon seeing that their beloved pastor was dead, the Church members chased members of the medical team away, insisting that Ndifor had gone to commune with God spiritually and he should not be buried.

The government had to deploy police to his residence so the medical team could gain access to his body for burial.

Pastor Ndifor prayed for dozens of people diagnosed with COVID-19 as well as those who displayed symptoms last Wednesday before his death on Sunday.

The pastor had also donated bars of soap and buckets to the poor so they could protect themselves against the virus by washing their hands.

He was last seen in public on April 20 distributing free face masks on the streets of Douala.

Medical authorities have asked everyone who came in contact with the late man of God to get tested for COVID-19.
