The Federal High Court in Calabar, Cross River State, has sacked the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Senator John Owan-Enoh, and other candidates of the party recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In his ruling, Justice Simon Amobeda, said, “INEC should only receive and accept the names and candidates that emerged from the executive led by Godwin John for the 2019 elections.”
The court also dismissed the leadership of the party led by Mr John Ochalla.
Justice Amodeba declared the Ochalla-lead executive illegal, and transferred the leadership to one led by Godwin John.
Commenting on the judgement, counsel for the claimants, Ayei Okpa, said, “The judgment clearly is in support of the rule of law; it also supports the yearnings of the common man.
“INEC must publish only the names that come from the lawful executive and not other names that emerged from any other executive in the Cross River State APC.”
However, the Director General of the Owan-Enoh Governorship Campaign Organisation, Sir Maurice Effiwatt, reacted that, “We have appealed the judgement. It does not in any way affect our candidate, John Owan-Enoh.”
