A two-week CAF `A’ License Coaching Course began in Abuja on Monday, according to a statement from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The statement posted on the NFF website said the course holding from April 18 to April 30 was the first in the history of the country.
“Before now, a number of CAF ‘B’ and CAF ‘C’ license courses have been held in the country over the years but this particular programme is the first CAF ‘A’ course in the country,’’ the statement said.
It said that the programme would be coordinated by the NFF Technical Director, Shaibu Amodu, alongside NFF assistant technical directors Rafiu Yusuf and Siji Lagunju.
The statement named the resource persons as former federation general secretaries Bolaji Ojo-Oba and Tijjani Yusuf, FIFA Advisor Linus Mba as well as former NFF Technical Director Kashimawo Laloko.
It also named former national coaches Adegboye Onigbinde and James Peters as resource persons.
“We are very happy that this programme is finally taking place; previously, we had been doing CAF ‘B’ and ‘C’ courses.
“The ‘A’ License programme means that we are stepping up and I am also happy about the response of our coaches to this programme,” Amodu was quoted as saying in the statement.
It stated that no fewer than 40 persons were expected to participate in the two-week programme.
The second phase is billed for the mid-season of the Nigeria Professional Football League next month.
The statement said that Amodu introduce the course content to the participants while Onigbinde and Laloko took the participants on `Soccer Simplified’.
Laloko also spoke on `Fitness for Success in Football’ and ‘Typical Training Session.’
The statement said that the Director of Sports Medicine in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abdulkadir Muazu, would speak on ‘Injuries and Rehabilitation, Recovery and Regeneration’.
Muazu is also expected to talk on Conditioning for Pros, Drug Testing and Fitness Testing Environmental Problems.
“Mba will talk on ‘The Laws and the Coach’ as well as on the Laws and the Spirit of the Game: Analysis of New Proposals,’’ it stated.
