CAF Confederations Cup: Enyimba thrash Senegal’s Diambars FC, proceed to next round

Enyimba International Football Club of Aba on Sunday cruised to the next round of the 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup in style, beating Senegal’s Diambars 3-0 in Aba and winning 4-0 on aggregate.

Omoyoele Tosin Abraham broke the deadlock as early as the first minute to douse tension.

Enyimba went to the break 2-0 up after Victor Mbaoma doubled their lead at the half hour mark.

Diambars had to finish the game with 10 men after Bacary Sane was shown the red card three minutes from time.

Enyimba made use of the numerical advantage to add a third goal right at the end through Kalu Samuel.

In other matches also played on Sunday, former champions, RS Berkane, big guns JS Kabylie and Orlando Pirates of South Africa were among those who qualified to the next round.

The 2020 Confederation Cup champions RS Berkane of Morocco cruised to the next round after completing the double over Tunisia’s US Ben Guerdane in Berkane.

The Oranges won 4-0 at home and 5-0 on aggregate after winning 1-0 away last weekend.

Algeria’s JS Kabylie ousted their Moroccan neighbors AS FAR after completing the double, beating them 2-1 in Tizi Ouzou. JS KAbylie qualified winning 3-1 on aggregate.

DR Congo’s Motema Pembe repeated their first leg 2-1 victory over Rwanda’s AS Kigali to qualify winning 4-2 on aggregate.

In Kinshasa, Katulondi Kati Kati opened the score for Motema Pembe after 26 minutes, but for Pierre Kwizera to restore parity for the visitors on the brink of halftime.
