Three men – Orimisan Ogundeji, 30, Damilola Abuwo, 27 and Segun Omoyele, 45 – were on Friday brought before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of five bundles of roofing sheets valued N150,000.
The accused, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen goods.
Police Prosecutor, Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 27 along Ode Aye-Okitipupa Road.
He said Ogundeji and Abuwo stole the five bundles of aluminium sheets belonging to one Mr Ojuola Oyetakin.
“Omoyele bought the roofing sheets for N80,000, knowing full well that it was stolen,” he said.
Orogbemi said the offence contravened Section 427 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted Ogundeji and Abuwo bail in the sum of N200,000 each with a surety in like sum.
He granted Omoyele a N100,000 bail with a surety in like sum.
Ayeomoni said the sureties should reside within the jurisdiction of the court and show evidence of tax payment to the Ondo State Government for one year.
He adjourned the case until April 20 for mention. (NAN)
