The police on Tuesday docked a 29-year-old businessman, Ibrahim Abdul, on Tuesday in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, over alleged mischief and laptop theft.
The Prosecutor, Mrs Ukagha Ijeoma, told the court that the matter was reported by Chukwu Godspower of Deo Gratias plaza, Utako, Abuja, at Utako Police Station on Sept. 24.
Ijeoma said that on the same date at about 8.15 a.m while the complainant was at his business centre opposite Utako market registering sim card for customers, Abdul formed a criminal intention.
She added that Abdul criminally and intentionally without provocation, threw away the complainant’s table into an uncompleted building and damaged some of his property.
She said that in the process, the complainant lost his Airtel device tap worth N35,000 and a HP Laptop valued at N25,000, all valued at N60,000.
The prosecutor noted that Abdul could not give satisfactory account of the items in his possession during police investigation, saying the offences contravened sections 327 and 288 of the Penal Code.
Abdul of Deo Gratias plaza, Utako, Abuja, however, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of mischief and theft.
The Judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with a reliable surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Nov. 5 for hearing. (NAN)
