An Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama in Jos, on Thursday sentenced a 46-year-old businessman, Chukwuma Hilary, to 10 years imprisonment for specialising in the forging of certificates.
The Judge, Malam Yahaya Mohammed, however gave Hilary, a resident of Rantya, in Jos South Local Government, a fine option of N100,000.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Hadi Modibbo, had told the court that the case was reported on Jan. 4, at the Plateau office of the State Security Services.
Modibbo said that the accused was arrested, investigated and arraigned after operatives of the SSS found that he had a case to answer.
“The SSS operatives found that the suspect operates a computer centre where he specialises in forging certificates for people.
“The operatives also found that Hilary has been into that business for a very long time,” Modibbo said.
On arraignment, Hilary pleaded guilty to the charge which the prosecutor said contravened Section 345 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
