Famous Nigerian singer Burna Boy has addressed the controversial incident where he assaulted a fan during his performance at the 2025 Lagos Countdown concert.
In a widely circulated video, Burna Boy was seen abruptly leaving the stage after kicking a fan who tried to touch him mid-performance. The video sparked outrage on social media, with critics labeling him the most arrogant Nigerian artiste.
Responding to the backlash on his Instagram story on Wednesday evening, the Grammy-winning artist revealed he has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which contributed to his reaction. He also cautioned fans against startling him during performances.
“It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost one hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing,” Burna Boy wrote. “I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year.”
