The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani has said that Buhari’s supporters are only pretending to be so because he is in power.
He said they would desert him should the president lose power.
The vocal senator described the president’s supporters as “temporary friends of the king; permanent friends of the throne.”
He made this known in a tweet via verified Twitter handle on Wednesday afternoon.
Sani is a member of the Sen. Bala Ibn Na’Allah-led Senate Ad-hoc Committee investigating the stealing of the mace on April 18.
The committee is investigating alleged complicity of known Buhari supporters, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege and Sen. Ali Ndume.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator did not say who he was referring to.
Sani said, “They never called themselves Buharists when Buhari was not in power. They will never call themselves Buharists when Buhari is out of power. They are Buharists because Buhari is in power.Temporary friends of the king, permanent friends of the throne.”
