Buhari’s Signing Of Peace Accord Is Deceit – Fayose

2 Min Read
Fayose

Immediate-past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s avowed commitment to peaceful, free, fair and credible elections as mere lipservice.

The vocal ex-governor disclosed this in a series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, while reacting to the signing of the Peace Accord in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Peace Accord is an undertaking by all the presidential candidates to ensure peaceful and rancour-free campaigns before, during and after the 2019 general elections.

Buhari and 68 other presidential candidates, as well as party chairmen, signed the Peace Accord.

At the signing, Buhari vowed to ensure that the 2019 general elections are peaceful, free, fair and credible.

But reacting, Fayose said, “A man who refused to sign the Amended Electoral Bill 4 times after it was passed by NASS of 469 Nigerians cannot be said to be interested in any peaceful, free and fair election. Therefore, signing of Peace Accord won’t change his desperation to remain in office at all cost.

“A man who has turned all Federal Government agencies, especially Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Police to the attack dogs of (ruling) APC cannot be said to be interested in any peaceful election just by mere signing of peace accord.”
