Buhari’s minister gives away airtime on Twitter

2 Min Read

To help Nigerians cope with the effect of coronavirus, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN) has announced the gift of airtime to his social media followers.

The goodwill gesture was done on Thursday afternoon via his verified Twitter handle.

The minister disclosed that he would be sharing N20,000 airtime to 20 followers at N1,ooo per individual.

Keyamo noted that ministers had already donated 50 percent of their salary to help in efforts to combat the virus.

He wrote, “Thanks to @MTNNG for this message I got: ‘Stay Safe! Recharge N1000 and get N5000 to CALL ALL NETWORKS. Dial*888*PIN# to recharge.

“Bonus valid for 30 days. To view bonus, dial *559*14#’ That’s N4000 free airtime! Kindly extend to ALL users.

“I just recharged N5000 & got N12,500.

The bonus airtime I received from @MTNNG is for Nigerian workers. Retweet & leave your no. in the comments.

“I will later randomly pick 20 numbers I will credit with 1k each, so they can get 5k bonus each.

“As Ministers, we have already donated 50% of our salaries to fight COVID-19”.

Meanwhile, Keyamo urged government functionaries not to react harshly to criticisms from Nigerians about the government’s coronavirus response.

The minister said that the criticisms were not unique to Nigerians.

“The preponderance of opinions in countries around the world is that majority of citizens are blaming their governments for not doing enough to curb COVID-19.

“We must be tolerant and allow people vent their opinions. It’s a sign of the times. The grass is always greener on the other side,” he said.
