A socio-political commentator, Senator Shehu Sani, has said that loyalists of President Muhammadu Buhari who deified him in the past should not be fighting him now.
According to him, the loyalists said anyone who dared to disagree with the president in the past would face God’s wrath.
Sani, who was senator for Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, asked if the loyalists hoped to secure God’s blessings now that they are also fighting the president.
Some governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, including Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna and Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, have openly defied the president over the implementation of the naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In a nationwide broadcast on Thursday, the president insisted that the old N500 and N1,000 notes have ceased to be legal tender.
The governors disagreed with the position, saying it was part of a plot to install an interim government.
Reacting, Sani said, “For eight years, they insisted that anyone fighting the President will face the wrath of God.
“Now they are fighting him and hoping to get the blessings of God.”
