The Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has reacted to the alleged move by some members of the Nigerian National Assembly to impeach the President, Muhammadu Buhari over the ongoing forgery case against the Senate leadership, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
The Edo state governor while speaking on behalf of Governors of the All Progressive Congress, APC yesterday warned that those plotting against Buhari will be met with the same fate as those who attempted a coup against the government in Turkey.
He said: “We know that corruption will fight back and it is fighting back. And that is why we went for a tested army general to lead the corruption fight. They will fight back but they will be crushed.
He added: “We reaffirm our confidence in the President, we don’t want any impeachment, we stand for democracy.
“The coup was resisted in Turkey, that is how Nigerians will resist any attempt to impeach the President”.
He further noted: “The anti-corruption war must go on, Nigeria’s economy will be repositioned and the people will be witnesses to prosperity. Peace is already returning to the North East. It will return to the Niger Delta and Nigeria will be prosperous again”.
