Former Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the Presidency and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stagger the general election across the country.
Omokri, who is backing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku, made the claim in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Thursday.
The US-based politician said he received a report of the plot from an “insider”, and called on Nigerians to reject the plot to hold staggered election.
He said, “Just got a call from an insider. The Buhari cabal and INEC Nigeria are planning STAGGERED Elections.
“They know they can’t win. This is their desperate last card. They may make an announcement today. Nigerians prepare to resist peacefully.”

Omokri’s claim is coming days after Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike made a similar claim.
Wike accused the presidency of planning to stagger the presidential polls in Kwara, Lagos, Rivers and Akwa Ibom States.
Recall that INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu said on Tuesday that only an “act of God” could stop the rescheduled election of February 23 and March 9 from going ahead as planned.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) however denied any plans to stagger the election.
Addressing the rumour that the party was pressuring INEC to stagger the elections, Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), said, “I think that is not a responsible and credible allegation to make. APC does not conduct elections. We go by the rules as set by the electoral umpire”.
