Presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad and Senator Shehu Sani are locked in battle over the propriety of a claim by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari had claimed that 90 per cent of victims of insurgency in the country were Muslims.
While partially agreeing with the president’s comment that Muslims constitute majority victims, Sani said Christians are specially hated by insurgents in the country.
He tweeted, “It’s true that the majority of the victims of the insurgents are Muslims; It’s also true that the victims of their violence cuts across people of all faiths & of no faith; But it’s undeniable that the insurgents harbour an ideologically gruesomely murderous hatred against all Christians.”
But Ahmad, one of Buhari’s social media aides, fired back at Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate.
Ahmad wrote, “Dear former Senator sir, you pretty know that those insurgents see everybody, both Christians and Muslims including you (if you’re not part of them) as completely an unbeliever. As a political ‘blogger’ please use your influence to correct the stereotype. Be a good Ambassador.”
However, the pro-democracy activist, who wears a notable Afro, would not take the snide remark suggesting he is a terrorist lying low.
Sani replied, “My Brother, just a look at my face and your face, my hair and your Goatee, the one that closely look like an Insurgent is clear. My regards Sheikh Albashiru.”
Ahmad, who immediately replied the senator, reminded him that Boko Haram’s founder, Mohammed Yusuf was clean-shaven.
Ahmad also pointed out that being called a Sheikh in Islam is a thing of pride.
He wrote, “LOL! the notorious Muhammed Yusuf didn’t have a goatee like me, his face wasn’t much different from yours, sir. And addressing me as Sheikh Albashiru is an honor, will never be an insult, when my knowledge makes people to recognize me as Sheikh, then I’ve made it in this life.”
