Buhari’s 800m Walk: Administration Has Accomplished So Much- Presidency

2 Min Read
Garba Shehu

President Buhari’s aide  on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu said that Buhari’s government has done a lot in such a short time

Providing a scorecard for the administration, Shehu said that the government has an A in its approach to corruption and the growth of the economy

Speaking on a Channels television show, Politics Today, Garba Shehu said this after the President completed an 800-metre walk after the Eid prayers in Daura, Katsina state.

He said, “There is absolutely no doubt about it, it’s an A. Talking about the walk on the streets, could it have been conceived three years ago that any security officer would allow the president of Nigeria to expose themselves on a modern street like this without the fear of being bombed?

“We have accomplished so much, the economy has rebounded, it is growing, the war against corruption he just gave a commitment upon return from vacation. He said he will jail them and they had better get ready.

“The judiciary is today on the same page with the president. They have come to terms with the fact that this problem of corruption is a national problem not personal to Buhari and they are working with the government”.

The Presidential aide added that the walk was not a stunt, neither was it purposely done to prove Buhari’s health

“It was not designed. We had no idea he was going to do this, and I assure you that all the security details would have panicked when he decided to walk.

“That is to show you that it was spontaneous and certainly there was nothing deliberate about it,” he said.
