A recent survey carried out has placed Nigeria on top of the list of most corrupt countries in the world.
Nigeria which is the most populated African country was ranked number one among the 60 countries evaluated according to reports of the data gathered from the 2016 Best Countries rankings.
The latest report which contradicts the success story of the Nigerian Government in its heightened fight against corruption was based on a survey of more than 16,000 people from four regions.
The USNews reports that the survey sought to characterize the relationship of the 60 countries included in the survey with the term ‘corrupt’ in the mind of respondents. However, the definition of the term was not given thereby leaving the interpretation of the word solely to the understanding of respondents.
Following Nigeria closely on the report is Columbia known for its notorious illegal drug business and kingpins while Russia came in sixth on the list of most corrupt countries.
