President Muhammed Buhari will soon move to check the excesses of the corrupt National Assembly, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, has revealed.
The presidential adviser earlier this month rattled the hornests nest when he exposed lawmakers earn as much as N3 billion per annum in a country where over half the population live on less then N12,000 per month.
In a telephone chat with The Punch newspaper, Sagay disclosed that the National Assembly would be powerless to veto the Multi-lateral agreement the Buhari administration had signed with the government of the United Arab Emirates.
He said, “The UAE MLAT is not a treaty as such but an agreement; so, it will be operated without their (senators) approval.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have in a related development, swooped on two homes allegedly owned by the former minister of petroleum, Diezani Madueke, in the super exclusive Dubai neighborhood of Emirate Hills.
The properties, located at E146 Emirates Hill and J5 Emirates Hill, are said to be worth 74,000,000 dirham (N7.1bn).
Emirates Hill, which has been described as the Beverly Hills of the United Arab Emirates, is home to some of the richest men in the world including billionaire Chairman of the Stallion Group, Sunil Vaswani, according to Punch reports.
