Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to stop “hiding” and address Nigerians on the current state of preparedness for tackling coronavirus in the country.
Presidents of countries like Ghana, South Africa and Zimbabwe have addressed their nations.
He lamented that despite 12 confirmed cases of the virus in the country, the president has not deemed it fit to talk to his people.
Omokri said this negated the president’s 2015 campaign promise to “lead from the front”.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Friday, the ex-Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media described the president’s response to a call from the Senate for him to address Nigerians as an “insult”.
The Herald recalls that the Senate made the call on Wednesday following a point of order raised by Sen. Danjuma Goje (APC – Gombe Central).
Senators Oluremu Tinubu, George Sekibo, Sam Egwu and Emmanuel Bwacha also supported him.
Responding to the Senate’s call, Minister of Information and Culture, said on Thursday that it was not time for the president to address the nation.
“Buhari talk to us. We won’t give you #CoronaVirus. We just need leadership,” Omokri said.

Why is General @MBuhari hiding? On Feb 26, 2015, he promised to “lead from the front”. Today, he insults the @NGRSenate, whose leaders he handpicked, for asking him to address Nigerians. Buhari talk to us. We won’t give you #CoronaVirus. We just need leadership#BuhariTormentor
