Following alleged continuous victimization of its members by anti-graft agency, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senators’ Caucus in the upper chamber of the national assembly have withdrawn their support for the President Muhammadu Buhari’s-led government.
The lawmakers also cited the proposed trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu for alleged forgery of senate standing rule as part of the reasons for their grievance against the APC-led government.
The lawmakers announced their decision at a press briefing at the National Assembly on Wednesday, June 22.
During the briefing, a statement was read by Emmanuel Bawcha, the deputy minority leader.
It read in part: “We condemn the plot to remove the senate president and his deputy through illegal means.
“We will no longer cooperate with the APC government until they cease their belligerent acts.”
