Chief Edwin Clark, Ijaw elder statesman has described presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), as a personality drenched in controversy because of his solid dark past.
Clark in a statement to the 22 aggrieved former governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa-Ibom State said “It’s clear that apart from clinging to sectional, ethnic and religious sentiments, the APC presidential candidate has no idea of running a democratic state.
“Mohammadu Buhari is a personality drenched in controversy because of his sordid dark past, Nigeria is ahead of his puerile and barren ideology, which remains stagnant. The APC political marriage is about accomplishing selfish, personal desire rather than the well being of Nigerians.”
He urged the 22 former governorship aspirants not to leave the party because President Goodluck Jonathan is set to re position the party, he said “I am very much aware of the situation of the 22 PDP gubernatorial aspirants, who felt cheated by Governor Godswill Akpabio’s titanic hold of party structures and the emergence of the PDP governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State.
“These illustrious party aspirants were very angry, threatening to leave the party if justice is not done on their agitation to have a free, fair and transparent party primary though only one joined the opposition APC.
“Mr. President, no doubt, will address these injustices with the view of repositioning the party so that loyal party members and Nigerians who remain steadfast to the present transformation can be rewarded with good governance.”
Meanwhile former military president, Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has said that although all the Presidential Candidates has his blessing and he will cast his vote for whoever offers what he is looking forward to.
In a CHANNELS Television talk show programme, Straight Talk, he said “Well, as far as 2015 is concerned all the presidential candidates, 14 of them have my blessing. The only difference, I did mention it, is that, I have not been able to read what they have to offer to this country and I am going to do that. Whoever offers what I was looking forward to I will cast my vote.”
