The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has urged Yoruba people to vote massively for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, saying the president rescued the South West geopolitical zone from political obscurity.
Fayemi said that the zone was denied political relevance under the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, a situation he said has been remedied by Buhari.
He further stated that the 2019 election was for the “liberation of the Yoruba race” which only a Buhari presidency could ensure.
The governor spoke on Wednesday while receiving a letter from a group under the aegis of Artisan, Traders and Allied Technicians’ Association (ATATA), Ekiti chapter endorsing Buhari’s second term bid.
Speaking while presenting the letter to Fayemi for onward delivery to Buhari, the ATATA State President, Mr. Ebenezer Fadipe, lauded the president for tackling the menace of corruption and recording numerous landmark achievements across the nation.

Fayemi, who received the letter, gave kudos to Buhari for giving the region a new lease of life after it was abandoned by the Jonathan administration.
He said, “Under President Jonathan, we saw how the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Minister of Finance , Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chief of Staff to the President were concentrated in just two zones in the south while the southwest was abandoned.
“But when President Buhari came on board, he made a Southwest person his Vice President, the Minister of Works , Power and Housing is from this zone, Minister of Health and other juicy positions were also allotted to the region.
“So, the coming election is for the liberation of the Yoruba race and only Buhari’s presidency could bring about the actualisation of this dream.”
