Buhari Is A Religious Bigot – Northern CAN

2 Min Read
President Muhammadu Buhari

The Christians Association of Nigeria, CAN, in the 19 Northern states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari of being a religious bigot especially as he has marginalised Northern Christians in his appointments.

The group further urged the president to maintain fairness in the sharing of political appointments in the country.

The call is contained in a statement released in Jos by the group through its Chairman, Rev. Yakubu Pam.

According to the Northern CAN, the president had in his appointments to strategic positions overlooked successful and qualified Christians from all states in the north.

The group further noted that contrary to the South’s agitation claiming the Northern states only benefit from the president’s appointment, it remains clear that the appointments have remained lopsided and in favour of the Muslim core North.

Pam in the statement insisted that the appointments made so far by the president in the last one year has been an issue which has sparked concerns among Northern Christian Community especially. He further cited the appointment of security Chiefs as an example.

The group further called on the President to review his appointments in the last one year in order to ensure that all sections of the country is given adequate consideration and a sense of belonging.
