2 Min Read

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with the former President of the Country, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting between the current serving and past President help inside the President’s office lasted about an hour.

The former president who arrived in a black Sports Utility vehicle cracked jokes with journalists upon arrival before heading into the meeting.

Following the meeting the former President while addressing State House correspondents noted that he used the meeting as an avenue to share his experience on some of his recent international encounters with the President.

He added:  “You know that not too long ago, I was out there. I have come to share some of my experiences with him (Buhari),”

When prodded to share the said international experiences, Obasanjo replied, “Ha! Ha! If I say I shared experiences with my wife, you will ask me wetin I talk with my wife?”

On the recent claims by the National Assembly that Obasanjo while in office signed budget before getting the details he responded, “Eh-en? I signed budget without details? Anybody who told you that, go and ask him again,”.

He, Obasanjo, however declined comments about the 2016 Appropriation Bill maintaining that he won’t give an opinion on the bill until he would have read the document and known what it contained.

Speaking on the delay in signing the bill by the President, he said: “The constitution allows you (the President) to continue with the budget provided you did not go beyond the previous year.

That can be done up to the middle of the year,” he added.
