The senator representing Kaduna Central, Sen. Shehu Sani, has tackled former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode over his claim that President Muhammadu Buhari was helping Boko Haram to “Fulanise Nigeria and Islamise Africa”.
Fani-Kayode made the claim while reacting to a comment he attributed to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Obasanjo said that Boko Haram had grown beyond what the Nigerian or West African governments could handle alone.
The former president spoke on Saturday at the second session of the seventh Synod of the Anglican Communion, Oleh Diocese, in the Isoko South LGA of Delta State.
He said, “They have both incubated and developed beyond what Nigeria can handle alone. They are now combined and internationalised with ISIS in control.
“It is no longer an issue of lack of education and lack of employment for our youths in Nigeria which it began as, it is now West African fulanisation, African Islamisation and global organised crimes of human trafficking, money laundering, drug trafficking, gun trafficking, illegal mining and regime change.
“Yet, we could have dealt with both earlier, and nip them in the bud, but Boko Haram boys were seen as rascals not requiring serious attention in administering holistic measures of stick and carrot.”

Reacting in a Saturday night tweet, Fani-Kayode said, “Boko Haram wants to Fulanise Nigeria and Islamise Africa” – President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“True. And Buhari and his Fulani herdsmen are their best friends and greatest supporters.”
However, in a Sunday morning tweet, Sani said there was no truth behind Fani-Kayode’s claim derived from Obasanjo’s comment.
He tweeted, “It’s true that the insurgents have a theocratic agenda, but it’s a mirage. It’s not true that the President is supporting the insurgents to achieve that. There is also nothing like “Fulanisation”. But nepotism is a reality, like other Previous administrations.”
