President Muhammadu Buhari has again raised brows over the choice of his political appointees for top government spot as he has appointed his son-in-law, Mr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh as the Executive Director Finance and Administration of NIMASA.
The appointment of Mr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh who is a Diploma certificate holder as the Director of Finance over more qualified and long serving officers in the agency further questions the credibility and the grounds on which political appointments are made under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
Along with Mr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh, the president also appointed other executives including Mr. Joseph Oluwarotimi Fashakin, the Executive Director, Maritime Safety and Shipping Development and Mr. Gambo Ahmed as the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services.
Mr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh however was until his new political appointment an Assistant Director in NIMASA. He was in charge of Training and Development having served in the Kaduna State Government civil service prior to his transfer to the National Maritime Authority, NMA, in 1994.
Mr. Bashir Yusuf Jamoh holds a Diploma in Accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and a Master’s degree in Management from the Korea Maritime and Ocean University.
