The President is currently in London where he is expected to meet with British Prime Minister, Theresa May.
While there, he played host to the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby whom he is good friends with and speaking on the threat posed by the Herdsmen in Nigeria, Buhari said that they are a problem that were in existence long before this present time.
He laid the blame of their creation and education at the feet of deceased Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, whom he blamed for creating this monster.
He said, “The problem is even older than us. It has always been there, but now made worse by the influx of armed gunmen from the Sahel region into different parts of the West African sub-region.
“These gunmen were trained and armed by Muammar Gaddafi of Libya. When he was killed, the gunmen escaped with their arms. We encountered some of them fighting with Boko Haram.
“Herdsmen that we used to know carried only sticks and maybe a cutlass to clear the way, but these ones now carry sophisticated weapons. The problem is not religious, but sociological and economic. But we are working on solutions.”
Also, he spoke on the reasons why he decided to contest for a second term, stating that it was because the people saw all the good he is doing in the country.
