President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the salary payment for lecturers who have not yet enrolled under the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
This was announced by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige who issued a statement through his media aide, Emmanuel Nzomiwu.

The February and March salaries of the affected lecturers had been withheld by the Federal Government following their failure to register under the payment system used by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
The approval however requires vice chancellors of the affected Universities to confirm and forward the Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) of the affected lecturers to the Accountant General of the Federation.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had embarked on a two week strike to protest a directive by the Federal Government for all lecturers in Federal Universities to register under IPPIS in January, 2020.
ASUU said the directive would affect the autonomy of Federal Universities.
Both parties came to a truce in March 2020 and agreed to merge the payment system proposed by the union with IPPIS.
