President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday 24 May, 2016 appointed a new Comptroller-General for the Nigerian Prisons Service, NPS.
The announcement confirming Mr Ahmed Ja’afaru’s appointment as the new prisons CG was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Bassey Akpanyung.
The newly appointed Prisons CG is expected to take over from Dr Peter Ekpendu as the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Prisons Service, NPS.
Mr Ahmed Ja’afaru was until the confirmation of his appointment the Assistant Controller General of Prisons.
According to the statement released to its effect, Ja’afaru’s appointment followed the retirement of the former prisons boss on May 17, 2016 after serving for 35 years.
