He said Mr. Ilelah’s appointment is for a tenure of five years in the first instance. Ilelah takes over from the erstwhile DG, Armstrong Idachaba.
The appointment is coming amidst a row between the Nigerian Government and Social media giant, Twitter.
It will be recalled that the Federal government through the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed suspended Twitter’s operations in Nigeria last week.
The suspension came a day after the platform deleted a tweet from President Buhari’s timeline for violating their rules.
The president had made a ‘genocidal’ threat against the Igbos over the rising Insecurity in the region.
