Senator Tony Nwoye (LP – Anambra North) has said N250 million was allocated for constituency project for his senatorial district in the 2024 budget.
Nwoye spoke while denying receiving N500 million for constituency projects after Senator Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe (PDP – Cross River North) claimed that some ranking senators got N500 million each from the 2024 budget for constituency projects.
Agom-Jarigbe made the claim at plenary on Tuesday during a debate occasioned by now-suspended Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP – Bauchi Central)’s assertion that the 2024 budget was padded to the tune of N3.7 trillion.
Amid the controversy, an X user had tagged Nwoye to ask if he also got N500 million for constituency projects.
Nwoye denied receiving such, disclosing that only N250 million was allocated for constituency projects in his senatorial district.
“I didn’t receive any 500 million naira as a constituency project for the good people of Anambra North senatorial district. What was allocated to me for the Zonal Intervention Project for 2024 is N250 million naira. I am a first time Senator. And this sum has not been released,” he said.
