Britain hopes to strengthen military ties with Kuwait, visiting British Secretary of State for Defence, Gavin Williamson, said on Wednesday in Kuwait City.
Williamson met with the Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and discussed issues of mutual concern, focusing on military ties.
The British official said he hopes his visit to Kuwait, the first since becoming Defence Secretary, would help build on the excellent military ties between the two countries.
He added it would also help to push bilateral ties to new levels.
Williamson hailed Kuwait’s leading role in the region through the country’s participation in the international coalition to fight terrorist groups, including the Islamic State.
He also praised Kuwait’s role for dissolving regional disputes and its well-chronicled humanitarian endeavours.(Xinhua/NAN)
