Nigerians brought Lagos to London over the weekend as the #LoveLagosWeekend campaign hit full gear.
The campaign which was organised by the Lagos State Government rounded off with the “Lagos Corner” held at Notting Hill Carnival on Monday.
Leading up to the Lagos celebration at the carnival were the Lagos State Town Hall meeting which held on Saturday, the MC Abbey show on the same night followed by the Julius Agwu Crack Ya Ribs comedy show on Sunday.
The Lagos Corner Producer and Co-producer of the #LoveLagosWeekend, Ayo Shonaiya while speaking on the success of the event said: “This has just been another groundbreaking event. As Lagos is looking forward to and counting down to Lagos at 50 next year, how appropriate was it that the Notting Hill Carnival itself just celebrated its 50th anniversary, and to top it all, the Nigerian Corner celebrated its 30th anniversary yesterday too.”
The Lagos State Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde who was also at the event said: “London and Lagos have a long, rich history, and choosing to start the global brand awareness campaign for Lagos in London is the right thing to do given the huge number of Lagosians and Friends of Lagos that reside and work there.”
