Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has been awarded as the best governor with his successes in Health and Education highlighted as his strong points.
This is even while the governor is under investigation for allegedly collecting bribes from contractors after a video which showed him allegedly collecting the money surfaced online.
The award was organised by The Telegraph newspaper and is the second time Ganduje is winning an award in the midst of his bribery scandal after he was honoured at the 10th LEAD Innovation Festival at Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
According to Premium Times, the Managing Director of the Telegraph newspaper, Funke Egbemode, said “it is good to celebrate those that are making a difference in our lives”,
She was also quoted as saying: “We believe that if we appreciate those that did good things we are at the same time encouraging them to do more in life.”

She added: “Ganduje believes strongly in the words of former South African President, Nelson Mandela, that, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Ganduje was elated by the award and said “We assure you that Kano will continue to excel in all sectors of the state. This honour, as being presented here, is meant to encourage us to continue building a stronger state with viable economy and productive population,”
