The Senator for Ogun East in the 8th Senate, Senator Buruji Kashamu has died of COVID-19 complications in Lagos.
Reports reaching The Herald say Kashamu died at the First Cardiology Hospital, Lagos, where a former Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari died in April.
He was aged 62.
Senator for Bayelsa East in the 8th Senate and media entrepreneur, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce took to Twitter to share the news on Saturday evening.
Murray-Bruce wrote, “I have just lost my good friend of forever to #COVID19.
“Until his death, Sen. Buruji Kashamu and I were inseparable.
“He died today at First Cardiology Consultants, in Lagos. May his gentle soul rest in peace. I pray his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this heavy loss.”

Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode also took to the platform to express shock at the demise of the late businessman-cum-politician.
He wrote, “Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and brother Senator Buruji Kashamu as a result of Covid-19.
“May the Lord honor and reward him with a place in heaven & may He forgive him of all his sins. RIP my old friend. You fought a good fight & we shall miss you.”
