President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday received security briefings on the security situation across the country from the service chiefs.
The meeting, which had herdsmen/farmers clashes top on the agenda, held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to the Personal Assistant to President Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, security chiefs in attendance at the meeting include the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, all the service chiefs, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, and Director General of National Intelligence Agency, Rufai Abubakar.
The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, was also at the meeting.
Briefing State House correspondents after the meeting, Dan-Ali said various issues pertaining to national security were discussed at the meeting.
He stated that blockage of grazing routes was responsible for the recurring clashes between herdsmen and farmers in several parts of the country.
Also, the minister disclosed that the country was working on procuring jets from the United States to combat various security challenges bedeviling the nation.
