Luxury items are exactly that for a reason– They call to our covetous nature to own stuff. Nigerian singing sensation Davido knows one or two things about luxury items as he owns quite a few. He also has an affinity for Rolex watches, but he may be disappointed this time as this is one Rolex that might prove to be his white whale. Rolex
Rolex, earlier this year, rolled out an update to its iconic Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona timepiece.
The watch is an absolute peach.
The original racing watch was introduced in the 1960s to help drivers time their laps and was given a modern overhaul that garnered reactions that started at thumbs up and ended with epic proclamations. The bezel on the newer model features Cerachrom, a proprietary material that’s scratch-resistant and whose deep black color won’t fade—making it easy to read when you’re pushing a few hundred miles per hour. Naturally, orders immediately went into overdrive.

Naturally with anything that has a low level of supply, demand goes mental.
The supply is so low, collectors world over who can generally afford the watch have found themselves on a waiting list. And, because the retailers selling these coveted watches will have to be selective about who gets to buy them,
Oh, it gets worse for Davido.
Retailers are being really choosy about who gets them and this is why the waiting list isn’t a couple of months, no, The New York Times reports the wait might stretch anywhere from two to five years.
To be fair, Davido is pretty young, he could maybe wait– then again they could be discontinued by then.
Ah.
